Privacy policy

Your wedding is personal, and so is your information. This policy explains what we collect when you build an invite or open one, how we use it, and the choices you have. In short: we collect only what your invite needs, your guests’ replies go only to you, and we never sell your data.

01About WedMate

WedMate is an online wedding invitation service, a product of TBD Weddings LLP, Hyderabad, India (“WedMate”, “we”, “us” or “our”). We respect your privacy and look after your information under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

02Information we collect

When you buy a WedMate invite, we collect:

  • Your name and mobile number.
  • The wedding details you add: names, events, dates, venues, map links, dress code, photos and your UPI QR code.
  • Your order details: what you bought, the amount and the payment status.

When you open or reply to an invite as a guest, we collect:

  • Your name and mobile number, to verify you with a code.
  • Anything you choose to send: your RSVP, wishes and selfies, song requests, gift notes and recommendations, including the name and number of the person you recommend.

We also receive basic technical information, such as your device and browser type, and how many times an invite is opened.

03How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Build, host and show your invite to the people you send it to.
  • Send login and verification codes, and keep your invite private to your guests.
  • Pass your guests’ RSVPs, wishes, gift notes and recommendations to you, in your studio.
  • Take payments and keep records of your order.
  • Answer your questions and keep WedMate safe and secure.
  • Understand how WedMate is used, so we can keep improving it.

We never use your information, or your guests’, to send you promotional messages without your separate consent.

04What the couple sees

Everything a guest sends through an invite goes to the couple who sent it. The couple can see the name and mobile number of each guest who opens their invite, along with their RSVPs and messages, in their studio.

Wishes may also appear on the invite itself for other guests to see. Couples can remove any wish at any time.

05Payments

Payments are processed securely by Razorpay. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.

Gifts from guests go directly to the couple’s own UPI account and never pass through WedMate.

06Sharing your information

We never sell or rent your personal information.

We share it only with trusted services that help us run WedMate, and only for that purpose:

  • Razorpay, for payments.
  • WhatsApp Business, to send login and verification codes.
  • Amazon Web Services and MongoDB, to host our website and store data.
  • Microsoft Clarity, to understand how pages are used so we can fix problems. Clarity uses cookies and masks anything typed into forms.

We may also share information when the law requires it. These services handle information under their own privacy policies.

07How long we keep it

We keep your invite and your guests’ responses for as long as you need them, so you can look back on them after the wedding. Write to us whenever you would like them deleted, and we will remove them.

Payment records are kept for as long as tax laws require.

08Keeping it safe

Your information travels over encrypted connections and is stored with access limited to the people who need it. While no system can be completely secure, we take care to protect it, and we will let you know promptly if a problem ever affects your information.

09Your choices and rights

You can contact us at any time to:

  • Ask what information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your information, where appropriate.
  • Withdraw consent you have given us.

Couples can edit or remove their details from their studio. Guests who want a response removed can ask the couple, or write to us directly. We reply to every request within 30 days.

10Children

WedMate is meant for adults planning a wedding. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
